Good Afternoon friends! Are you feeling the love in the air? Flowers, chocolates, and love have been seen all week. Did you know that every year, more than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolates are sold across the country?! What?! This real life statistic sounds so dreamy!
Okay, okay, despite my never ending love for chocolate, I agree that Valentine’s Day can feel overly commercialized and this can take away from the beautiful desire that sits in our hearts (Focus! I'm not referring to the heart-shaped choclates mentioned above).
But what if we used February 14th to remind us to take a moment to pause and reflect on LOVE. To celebrate it. To give it. To receive it.
Studies show that love is vital for our well being and our brains need it to survive! (I'm still waiting for the study that shows we need chocolate to survive : )
How about we celebrate our love for Grace by getting some glimpses from the week?!
Our PK, JK, SK and 1st grade classes started off their Valentine’s Day with a special puppet show!
Our 4th graders visited the Adler Planetarium in Chicago!
They even designed quilt squares which can be donated to Adler Planetarium for use of a story-telling quilt! #adlerstarquilt
Mr. Jordon visited our 5th and 6th graders, and delivered a very moving rendition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Our 7th graders assisted Mrs. Hammer in hanging this wonderful painting of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., along with adding notable quotes. Dr. King reminds us at Grace how significant it is to be mindful of the content of our character.
The 2nd and 3rd graders celebrated the Chinese New Year (Year of the Rat) by creating this colorful dragon! Each plate on the dragon has a Chinese character representing each student’s first name. They paraded their dragon throughout the school while ringing bells, and hung it up for all to see outside the 2nd grade classroom. Stop by and see all the intricate detail that went into this creation!
As we conclude this post for the week, I invite you to take the opportunity and embrace the love you have and show up intentionally for those around you this weekend. A small gesture can mean the world to someone in your life <3
Have an amazing weekend! Many blessings to you!
