Glimpse of Grace

Remembering the beauty of life.

Posted by Jennifer Beasley on

Hello! We are wrapping up another week at Grace and heading into the weekend. There have been so many things happening over the course of the week. Please know prayers are continuous and support is available.

I invite you to take some time and reflect on several blessings that have occurred this week, as a reminder that God is present in our lives and at our school.

Have you seen the leaves on the trees outside our school?  They are beautiful!   And remind us of the beauty created by God. Our early childhood classes have been collecting them on fall walks, as part of their science curriculum. They were grinning from ear to ear as they collected.

Your family can join in on the fun too. We have been collecting leaves as a family with the Leaf Identification Game. Give it a try this weekend! You'll be surprised at how many you can find while just walking around your neighborhood.

Are you planning a family fall activity this weekend? Take a photo and send it to  so I can share it with others and see what our school families are up to over the weekend. It's a fun extension of our school and gives each other ideas for weekend plans.

Now, let's hit the ground running (literally)  and Get another glimpse of Grace.

Last week, our Cross Country Grace Vikings had an amazing victory. They competed in the Cross Country State Championships and came home with placing 3rd for the boys and 5th for the girls. Both teams qualified for the National Championships this weekend. Prayers to all our athletes and fans.

Did you know October is Pastor Appreciation Month? Last week we took the time to appreciate Pastors from our students’ home churches. Some of them were able to come for a sit-down lunch, saw our school in action, and left with a gift to show our appreciation. We are blessed to have them in our students' lives. If you want to see your Pastor at our school, there is another appreciation event coming up. You can remind them to RSVP here.

Our Chapel Buddies not only sit together in chapel, or read to one another, but they share special projects throughout the year. Painting Pumpkins is so much better with your Chapel Buddy. Look at what the Senior Kindergarteners and fourth graders created together!

Field Trips are lots of fun. But they are also very beneficial for our students' learning. When students leave the classroom on a field trip, they can understand how what they have been learning in the classroom connects with what they experience on their field trip in the "real world".  Students become inspired to appreciate the achievements and contributions of a variety of people and cultures.

Our fifth and sixth graders took a field trip to the DuSable Museum to see the artwork of Margaret T. Burroughs and learn about the legacy of Harold Washington.  Last week, the students had a visit from Ms. Sprecher who came to preview the museum and give background information prior to the field trip.

Flashback to last Friday when we hosted the annual Mother-Daughter Event. It was a beach party blast. Save the Date for our annual Father-Son Event. Details to come!

As always, wishing you a happy and safe weekend,

Jenn B.
