Classes. Grades 1-8; senior kindergarten (five-year-olds); junior kindergarten (four-year-olds); preschool program (three-year-olds).
Enrollment. 211 in the 2017-2018 school year
Geography. Students come from 21 suburbs and Chicago. 20% live in Chicago, 19% in Oak Park, 12% in River Forest, 12% in Maywood, 10% in Forest Park, 9% in Elmwood Park, 3% in Berwyn , 2% in River Grove, and 13% other suburbs.
Diversity. 70% white, 11% bi-racial, 13% African American, 4% Hispanic, 2% Asian
Religious background. 52 students from Grace Church, 82 from other Lutheran and Protestant churches, 40 belong to non-denominational churches, 9 attend Catholic churches, 1 Orthodox, and 27 have no home church.
Administration. Bill Koehne, principal, Brian Schultz, assistant school administrator and Eileen Maggio, administrative assistant.
Faculty. Nine full-time and two part-time classroom teachers, a full time special education instructor and a part-time reading specialist, a full-time library media specialist/technology teacher, and part-time teachers for music, art, PE, and German. Nine teachers hold a Master’s degree.
Staff. Part-time social worker, speech therapist and nurse; five part-time classroom aides and five part-time extended day care staff members.
Volunteers. Involved parents and congregation members work with students in classrooms and in special programs.
Teaching the faith
Religion. The Bible and Christian doctrine are taught in daily classes.
Classroom devotions and prayer: The school day begins and ends with prayer.
Worship: Weekly all-school chapel services are led by pastors, teachers, guests, and students.
Service. A variety of service projects are done by our students to benefit ministries both near and far.
Art. Weekly art classes, art history, and projects throughout the curriculum
Music. Weekly general music classes as well as choir and/or handbells during the school day
Band. Ensemble and individual lessons taught by teachers from Walther High School.
Orchestra. Violin lessons and two levels of orchestra.
Options. Morning daycare for all students beginning at 7am and after-school extended care available for students in full day junior kindergarten through grade 8 until 6pm.
After school sports and enrichment classes
Enrichment. A variety of after school programs sponsored by the Grace Parent Organization (GPO).
Sports. Cross country and track for girls and boys in grades 3-8; basketball and volleyball for girls and boys in grades 5-8.
