Children’s Christmas Eve service preparations
Word sheet for grades 1-4
Word sheet for grades 5-8
All children of Grace Lutheran Church and School, grades 1–8, are invited to participate in leading the 4:15 and 6:00 p.m. worship services on Christmas Eve, December 24. Children in grades 1–4 rehearse on Sunday mornings in December during the Sunday School hour. Children in grades 5–8 participating in the choir who do not attend Grace School rehearse on Sunday evenings, 6:30–7:30 p.m., beginning November 17.
Because of the way that Christmas falls on the calendar this year, the final required rehearsals for the service for all participants are Friday, December 20 at 8:30 a.m. (finished by 10:15 a.m.) and Monday, December 23, at 8:30 a.m. (finished by 11:15 a.m.). Missing a few hours of school on December 20 is unfortunate, but attending these rehearsals is the only way each student in the service will feel prepared to participate.
Information about participating in the Children’s Christmas Eve service has been mailed to families with children who do not attend Grace School. If you did not receive a letter, please ask for a copy at the reception desk. Or read the letter and download the forms here. Grace School students will receive information at school in a few weeks.
During the Christmas Eve services, children actively participate in proclaiming the good news of Christ’s birth. Working hard in rehearsals and at home to prepare for these services helps them to grow in faith as they focus on what is most important about Christmas.
Children are also invited to submit a drawing for the Christmas Eve bulletin cover. The deadline is Dec. 2. Form and information here.
