The Epiphany Star
"We have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him."
(Matthew 2:2)
The star for Epiphany forms a visual continuity following the Advent
wreath and the Christmas tree as symbols appropriate to the celebration
of the Incarnation of our Lord. Just as the Magi followed the star to
the place where Jesus was, so we come to worship Jesus in the Epiphany
season, recalling thereby his coming to the Gentiles. The venerable
tradition of hanging a star at home or in church for the season has
been observed most faithfully by the Moravians.
