Grace Lutheran Church's Bach Cantata Vespers present the cantatas of J. S. Bach within the context of congregational worship. Other music in the service, the hymn singing, and preaching are tied to the themes of the cantata.
Cantatas are presented one Sunday afternoon each month, from September to November, and January to May. The Grace Senior Choir and orchestra are led by Grace Cantor Michael Costello or Assistant Cantor Carl Grapentine. Guest preachers and organists come from all over the Chicago area and from other parts of the United States.
- Cantata services begin at 4:00 p.m., with an instrumental prelude at 3:45.
- A free-will offering is taken.
