Sunday School students are buying a farm, part of an ELCA World Hunger project
Sunday School children are asked to bring back their Global Mission Barns this Sunday, February 23, at either the 8:30 or 11 a.m. worship service. Children should go to the back of the church with their banks as the ushers collect the offering. The pastors will assist them in processing down the aisle and will make sure everyone gets back to their seats. The money collected in these banks will buy farm animals, tools, and training for a family in poverty, through the ELCA Good Gifts program. The gift of a family farm can help a family escape the cycle of hunger and poverty for good, as well as benefit the entire community. Here’s a video about how this program helped the Lingson family in Malawi.
Come to the Benevolence Fair on Sunday between services
You can learn more about ELCA World Hunger and many more charitable organizations supported by Grace's Benevolence budget at the annual Benevolence Fair in Fellowship Hall on Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. Come for coffee, then stay and chat with staff members and volunteers eager to tell you about their ministries and how you can become involved.
Lenten Devotional Book
Lent begins this year on March 5. For many of us, the holy season of Lent provides an opportunity to spend additional time in personal devotions, often with a booklet of devotions, prepared around a specific theme.
A Grace family is providing copies a lovely devotion book for Lent 2014 titled “too deep for words.” Each devotion includes a scripture reading from the book of Romans, a brief quote from a non-biblical source, a short reflection and a prayer, enhanced with a colored illustration. You may pick up a copy for your family at Grace this Sunday morning and throughout the week at the reception desk. A limited number of large print copies are available for those with limited vision.
LifeTouch photographers return next week for more photo sessions, Tuesday, Feb. 25, through Saturday, March 1. Sign up in the atrium on Sunday morning, or online. Grace families who are photographed receive a free 8 x 10 and a copy of the pictorial directory, as well as a 20 percent discount on photo purchases. If you would like your picture included in the directory but are unable to be photographed at this time, please contact Gwen Gotsch (firstname.lastname@example.org).
