Wear red for Pentecost
The reading for Pentecost from the Book of Acts tells how the Holy Spirit came to the disciples after Jesus's ascension as a rush of wind and as tongues of fire. The liturgical color for the Day of Pentecost is red. We celebrate the day by colors of flame and fire: red, yellow, and orange.
Summer food drive
Donate to the special food drive being conducted in the next few weeks. Take home a grocery bag on Sunday as a reminder, then return nonperishable items and canned goods to the bin in the atrium by June 10 for delivery to area food pantries the following week.
Congregation meeting on June 3
A regular meeting of the congregation will be held on June 3 following the 11:00 a.m. worship service. The agenda includes the presentation and review of the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget, a financial report, and an update from the Youth and Family Ministry Committee. You may obtain a copy of the proposed budget prior to the meeting from Karen Christopher, church administrative assistant (708-366-6900, ext. 207; firstname.lastname@example.org).
Grace is a strong community of faith because its members, sustained by the Spirit, are actively engaged in mission, witness, worship, education, and service. These active expressions of our faith are supported by Grace's budget. In the weeks ahead, prayerfully consider the many ways in which God has blessed you and sustained your faith here at Grace Lutheran Church and School. Then consider making an extra gift to Grace so that we can meet our budgeted expenses for the fiscal year that ends on June 30.
