Experience Jazz Psalms Vespers this Sunday at 4:00
We asked Grace members on Facebook if they'd ever experienced a jazz worship service. Here's what some of them said:
"Love Andy Tecson's jazz services. He and his group are amazingly talented." Susan Cross
"I have! Andy Tecson at Grace. Superb. We should have more." Ellie Schnack
"Evening prayer at synod assembly last week, which was just lovely." Pastor Faulstich
Come experience a different kind of musical energy at Grace this Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The vespers liturgy will feature Andy Tecson's Jazz Psalms, performed by some of Chicago's top jazz musicians, with Doug Anderson as the baritone soloist. Martin Marty is the preacher, and Peter Marty offers the Psalm prayers.
The offering during the service will benefit both Lutheran Child and Family Services and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois. You can read more about the event at TribLocal. A reception will follow the service in the atrium.

Help make pillowcases for sick kids
There's another sewing night for the ConKerr cancer pillowcase project, this Tuesday, June 19, 7:00 p.m. at Grace. We will be making pillowcases to distribute to pediatric patients at three Chicago area hospitals. If possible, please bring a sewing machine or serger, pins and sewing supplies. If you don't have sewing skills, no worries--we still need your help ironing, pinning, sorting and packaging the pillowcases. Contact Donna Mindrum with questions (firstname.lastname@example.org). Read more about the project here.
