Giving to those in need
Fall food drive continues through Nov. 22. Your donations of nonperishable food items will help stock the shelves at the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry, as well as the food pantries of Fraternité Notre Dame, Harmony Community Church in Lawndale, Lutheran Child and Family Services, and Chicago Uptown Ministry.
Business clothing drive ends this Sunday. The Social Ministry Committee is collecting gently used business attire for men and women served by the Safer Foundation, which provides education and employment services for men and women leaving prison. Clothing on hangers may be placed on the north-side rack in the coatroom; folded clothing may be placed in the collection bin in the atrium.
Turkey time at Fraternité. The sisters at Fraternité Notre Dame need at least 50 turkeys and 100 pies to feed hundreds of our West Side neighbors at their annual Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless. Sue Foran is coordinating donations of money and/or turkeys and pies. Make checks payable to Sue and leave them at the front desk and she will do the shopping. Turkeys and pies can be brought to church on Sunday, Nov. 22, or call or e-mail Sue (708-267-1620; email@example.com) and she will pick them up.
