December 4, 2015

Each year the Christmas Eve service includes gifts brought forward by our students.  This year we are collecting gloves, scarves, hats, and socks (new, still in their packaging) for disadvantaged children in the North Austin Head Start program and developmentally-disabled children and adults attending the Proviso Area for Exceptional Children school.  These items are for children from 2-20 years of age, so sizes XS-XXL are accepted.  If you wish to donate, please bring your unwrapped gift by Monday, December 21.

Character Education Goal of the WeekKindness

A Grace School tradition at Christmas is to show our appreciation to the teachers and staff by giving them a monetary gift collected from the families. Please take a look at the list found here and consider contributing in this way.  We understand not all families are able to contribute or would rather show their appreciation in other ways.  If you wish to contribute to these gifts, all monies need to be received no later than Wednesday, December 16 at the school office and must be cash, no checks or online contributions.  The room parents will distribute the gifts along with a card to each staff and faculty member.

Graceful Evening Wine Pull Donations
While you’re decking the halls and catching up with family and friends during the holidays, if you find yourself with extra bottles of wine that need a home please consider donating to the Graceful Evening Wine Pull.  Bottles of wine valued $20 or greater warmly received (well, actually, stored with thoughtful temperature control until the auction).  Donations can be turned into the Grace front desk.

Great Lakes Scrip Center offers gift cards from over 600 retailers, who donate 1.25 to 50% of the value back to the school. Look at the extensive list of participating retailer and decide which gift cards you can use, and submit your Scrip order form to Eileen Maggio in the school office with payment by cash or check. Consider using Scrip for regular purchases of gas or groceries, for major purchases at stores such as Best Buy, Sears and Target, and for online shopping at Amazon and iTunes. Scrip allows Grace School to benefit from money families plan to spend every week. The next order for Scrip cards will be placed on Tuesday, December 15 and cards will be available on Friday December 18.  Let Grace School help with your Christmas shopping

Walther Christian Academy (Upper School) will have an Open House Sunday, December 6 at 3pm.  Tour the campus, meet the teachers, speak with current students, and learn more about what makes Walther such a great place for students to learn.  Walther consistently has 100% college acceptance for our seniors and our average senior class college scholarship award is $11,000,000.  Athletic and extracurricular options to fit every need abound inside of our Christian-centered family environment as well.  This is a great opportunity to come learn about scholarship and financial aid deadlines.  Contact Alma L. Calleros, Director of Recruitment with any questions: , 708.344.0404 ext. 245.
