February 11, 2016

The second trimester is coming to a close in two weeks and parent / teacher conferences are set for Thursday, March 3.  Students in grades PK-4 will be receiving the typical form next week to request a time for your conference, and a time will be scheduled as in the past.  We are trying something new for students in grades 5-8 because these students see many different teachers throughout a week.  Instead of meeting with the homeroom teacher only, parents will have the opportunity to visit with whichever teachers they wish.  A teacher may request a conference with you, but conference times will not be scheduled in advance.  Instead, teachers will be in their classrooms and you will stop to see the teachers of your choice at whatever time you come.  This new format will give parents a chance to meet face to face with all of their student’s teachers.

Character Education Goal of the Week: Compassion

Afternoon pick-up:  Our new pick-up location on Bonnie Brae has been going well with the exception of those who double park or wait in the drive across the street for their children to come out.  Entering the street is not safe for students and double parking causes traffic congestion.  Please find a place to park on Division or Bonnie Brae and greet your students on the sidewalk outside of the Bonnie Brae doors.

A Graceful Evening Fund-A-Need
A Graceful Evening, is Saturday, March 12, at Oak Park Country Club, 2001 Thatcher Ave, River Grove, 60171.  We hope to see you all at this fun event!

New this year as part of the Fund-A-Need is an opportunity to donate to preschool through eighth grade classroom wish lists online and in person before the event—a way for people unable to attend to contribute to the fundraising effort. Even a modest donation can help support classroom learning, by purchasing needed equipment for science, technology, engineering and math.  Later today the wish lists will be online at www.graceriverforest.org  so you will be able to see and purchase specific items or make a general donation in any amount – our goal before the event is $6,000.  Stay tuned for more information on how the kids will get to be involved as well!

We are still looking for sponsorships and auction items. Another great way to support the event is to donate a bottle of wine, valued at $20 or more, to the Wine Pull, or a 22 oz. “beer bomber” to the giant craft beer auction item.  Please let us know if you can help in any way!

Thanks for your support!
