What brings families to Grace School? Other families! Please tell others in your social network about our Early Childhood Open House next Wednesday morning, May 4, 10:30–noon. Invite them personally—make a phone call, send an email, refer them to the Grace School web site. If you’re on Facebook, click here to see the Open House info on our Grace School page and share it on your own timeline. Help us fill our classrooms for the 2016-17 school year. Thank you!
We had a great day today with over 180 guests for Grandparent & Grand friend Day. I saw lots of smiles as our students interacted with their guests. The concert was outstanding and the art fair is amazing. If you have not seen the art fair, stop by on Sunday before 12:30pm to view it in the gymnasium.

Parent Prayer Meeting – Everyone is invited to our second parent prayer meeting being held on Tuesday morning from 7:45-8:30am in the conference room. Come when you can and leave when you must. We will be praying for our school, our students and teachers and specifically for each of our 8th graders as they face the transition from Grace into high schools around the area.
Grace Spirit Wear - If you missed out on ordering or want additional spirit wear, we will be placing one more order before the end of the year. You can find the order form here. Please return the form and payment to Eileen Maggio by Wednesday, May 11th and you will have it before the final spirit wear day of the year!
Grace School will once again be hosting SCAMP, our recreational summer day camp for children ages 3-5. Camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 6-30, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The registration form can be found here. Contact the school office for more information.
VBS this Summer! – June 20-23 - Send your kids on an over-the-top underground adventure! Grace Lutheran Church and School, along with Village Church of Oak Park, will host Cave Quest VBS, where kids explore the rock-solid foundation of Jesus’ love. Cave Quest VBS is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, touch, and even taste! Science fun, team-building games, cool Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life. (Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes.) Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life—something we call God Sightings. Get ready to hear that phrase a lot! Your kids will also participate in a hands-on mission project, through a program called Operation Kid-to-Kid™ that will let the kids in our community show God’s mighty love to needy kids in the United States. Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to join us at Cave Quest Closing on Thursday at 7:45pm, to celebrate Jesus—the light of the world!
The fun starts at 5:30pm with supper and will end at 8:00pm.
Registration will open in April! Make sure you register your children for this life-changing adventure! Please email Julie Modrich with any questions.
Junior High parents- Costume information is posted on Ms. Gotsch’s blog (msgotsch.blogspot.com) along with a list of props and odds and ends that we are looking for. Please take a look.
Harmony Community Church, feeding 350 families each week in Chicago, needs your help to “raise the roof”
With a per capita income of just $12,548, a 19 percent unemployment rate and with 39 percent of households living below the poverty level, the North Lawndale community on Chicago’s West side, bordering Oak Park, struggles on a daily basis to meet its basic needs.
In the midst of this adversity, Harmony Community Church, led by Pastor James Brooks, (Grace's former Youth Minister) stands as a beacon of hope and safety. For the past 10 years, Harmony has run a food pantry each week, feeding more than 350 families from North Lawndale and surrounding communities. In an area of Chicago where 40 percent of households are food insecure, Harmony is making a difference, each week, every week.
Today, this ministry is in jeopardy and Harmony Church needs your help. Following rainstorms or melting snow, a crumbling roof is letting water into the sanctuary, office spaces and fellowship hall, which is where the Food Pantry is housed.
This congregation that loves and serves like Christ, has set up a crowd-funding website sponsored by Wheat Ridge Ministries, “Raise the Roof,” and has raised about $45,000 but is still more than $5,000 short of the total needed to make the repairs.
