As we close in on the end of another school year, I want to make sure you have a couple pieces of information. Friday’s Schedule: Students arrive at the normal time. Chapel begins at 9:00. All parents are welcome to join us for our closing service. After chapel students will return to classrooms and be dismissed at 10:00am.
I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Massmann will be our 5th grade homeroom teacher next year with teaching responsibilities in both 5th & 6th grade. We are now in need of a part-time PE instructor. If you know of someone who would be a good fit for our needs, please have them contact us. Here is the position description.
Grace Lutheran School in River Forest, Illinois is seeking a certified teacher for a 2/3 part-time PE position for Grades 1-8 beginning with the 2016-17 school year. Other areas of need beyond PE could make it a full time position. The teacher will be an active participant in the Grace Lutheran Church and School community. Experience within the Lutheran educational system is preferred. Willingness to coach at least one school team is preferred, boys basketball is open. As you make doctor appointments for your kids over the summer, please keep in mind that students that plan to compete in athletics next year will need to have an athletic physical completed and on file at Grace. This is a new practice at Grace, but standard practice at schools throughout the state. The form can be found here and on our website. Athletic physicals can be performed by your pediatrician or at many area clinics.
If your child has any medication at the school office, it must be picked up by tomorrow. Any medication not picked up will be disposed of by the school nurse on Monday, June 6.
Boys Basketball Camp- Mr. Koehne will lead a boys’ basketball camp from June 20-23. For boys entering grades 5 - 6, the class will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. and for boys entering 7-8 the class will be 3:15-5:15 p.m. The cost is $45 and includes a camp t-shirt. The sign up form can be found here.
Grace Parents Organization (GPO) WANTS YOU!!
(The GPO mission is to build a strong community of parents and families by supporting educational opportunities at Grace and enriching the lives of our students through community involvement and fellowship.)
GPO is already looking forward to next year and would love to invite you to our first planning meeting on Tuesday evening, June 14th at 7:30 (location TBD). We are looking for at least one parent from each grade (but the more the merrier!) to be on the planning committee. We plan to meet every other month in the evenings to brainstorm ideas for events, plan event activities, discuss ways to encourage parental involvement and share feedback. We’d love any and all who are interested in getting more involved. Please contact Esther Armstrong at if you want more information or are interested in participating, even if you can’t make our first meeting. We will welcome all!

Grace Lutheran Church and School, along with Village Church of Oak Park, will host Cave Quest VBS, where kids explore the rock-solid foundation of Jesus’ love. Celebrate Jesus—the light of the world through music, Bible stories, crafts, games and yummy treats.
