Thanks to everyone who made this year’s walkathon a great success!  We collected more food than the last two years and also raised over $21,000 for the school.  Special thanks to the planning committee of Jennifer Brayton, Tina Hynes, Erika Lyle, and Lauren Fye for all their work making the event run so smoothly.

As you make doctor appointments for your kids over the summer, please keep in mind that students that plan to compete in athletics next year will need to have an athletic physical completed and on file at Grace.  This is a new practice at Grace, but standard practice at schools throughout the state.  The form can be found here and on our website.  Athletic physicals can be performed by your pediatrician or at many area clinics.

Character Education Goal of the Week:  Trustworthiness

Boys Basketball Camp- Mr. Koehne will lead a boys’ basketball camp from June 20-23.  For boys entering grades 5 - 6, the class will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. and for boys entering 7-8 the class will be 3:15-5:15 p.m.  The cost is $45 and includes a camp t-shirt.  The sign up form can be found here.

Penny Wars:  The Penny Wars was a great success.  A total of $606 was raised for the 8th grade class gift.  The class of 2016 has chosen a gift centered on water. The funds they raise will purchase a bottle filling station for Grace. They will also make a contribution to the Flint Child Development Fund to aid in the immediate relief and long-term care of children affected by the lead poisoning of the water in Flint, MI.  Thank you to all who participated.

Congratulations to the Track Team on a successful State Track Meet last weekend.  Seven of our athletes earned All-State honors by placing in the top 8.  We also had three school records set.  Jessica Hoffmann set a new school record in the 400 Meter Dash and Zawadi Brown set a new school record in the 800 Meter Run.  The 4x800 relay team of Zawadi Brown, Nicole Virzi, Madelyn Virzi, and Anna Scholtens also broke a school record.  Congratulations to all!

Grace Parents Organization (GPO) WANTS YOU!!(The GPO mission is to build a strong community of parents and families by supporting educational opportunities at Grace and enriching the lives of our students through community involvement and fellowship.)

GPO is already looking forward to next year and would love to invite you to our first planning meeting on Tuesday eveningJune 14th at 7:30 (location TBD).  We are looking for at least one parent from each grade (but the more the merrier!) to be on the planning committee.  We plan to meet every other month in the evenings to brainstorm ideas for events, plan event activities, discuss ways to encourage parental involvement and share feedback.  We’d love any and all who are interested in getting more involved.  Please contact Esther Armstrong at  if you want more information or are interested in participating, even if you can’t make our first meeting.  We will welcome all!

June 20-23 - Supper begins at 5:30pm and our closing will end at 8:00pm. Early bird discount runs through June 5! Individual $35; Family $65 Registration can be found on line and forms are available at the front desk in the atrium.  

Grace Lutheran Church and School, along with Village Church of Oak Park, will host Cave Quest VBS, where kids explore the rock-solid foundation of Jesus’ love. Celebrate Jesus—the light of the world through music, Bible stories, crafts, games and yummy treats.

The final bill for hourly after school day care will be mailed after the last day of school and will include May and June hours.  It will be due on June 20.
