MAP testing began this week.  The last two days there have been some technical issues, but these have mostly been due to factors outside of our building.  We are still on pace to have testing done and results available for Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 6.

If you have not returned the form requesting the time of day for your conference, please return it on Monday.

We need your help to make our 7th annual A Graceful Evening, our largest fundraiser of the year, a huge success.  Contact Rebecca Morgan at to find out how you can help.  There is a wide variety of ways to contribute already now in the fall, at some point this winter, or the night of the event.  If you have a particular interest, they will find a place for you.  Thanks for helping make this a great event.

Recognizing Grace-Congratulations to Grace School alumni, Marisa Morella and Margaret Whalen.   Marisa was named a semi-finalist in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program.  Semi-finalists placed among the top 16,000 scores (less than 1%) of juniors who sat for the exam last fall.  Margaret was named a Commended Student.  Commended students placed among the top 50,000 scores (5%) of juniors who took the exam.

From Mrs. Hammer, Art teacher- Thank you for all of your donations to the art department.  Please do not send any additional items at this time due to a lack of storage.

Our lost and found cabinet is already growing.  Please mark all jackets and lunch bags with your child’s name.  Items will be set out during Parent Teacher conferences.

Do you love books? We have a great opportunity for you to spend time around books and support the Grace Lutheran School library. The book fair is coming up!  It will be held again this year during the parent/teacher conferences in October. We need help setting up the fair on Wednesday, October 5, hosting fair previews for classes during the morning of October 6, and staffing the book fair in the afternoon and evening of conferences. If you would like to help, or would like more information about helping,  please contact Christa Holm () or Lexi Wurpts (). Whether you can offer 20 minutes or two hours, everyone is welcome!

To report an absence or to relay a message to your child’s teacher, please call the school office directly at 708-366-6901.  Thank you.

The first Parent Teacher conferences of the school year will be Thursday, October 6.  The conference form can be found here.  Forms must be returned by Monday, September 26.  Childcare will be provided in the extended daycare room.

Reminder- School pictures for grades Pre-kindergarten through 7 will be Thursday, September 29.  Forms were sent home in Tuesday folders, but additional forms are available at the school office.
