Hello! Another week of academics and adventures at Grace Lutheran School!
Our week started out with the launching of our "Battle War of the Spare Change" aka Penny Wars ( a friendly competition between classes). Competition angst increased as the fifth and sixth graders hung posters around the school and announced the daily totals.
Students and staff collected coins in their class jars. Our second graders and below, collected as many coins as they could. However, the penny wars advanced a bit for our third through eighth-graders. The strategy was to sabotage the jars of their rivals. This was done by adding coins (and bills) other than pennies to their jars which scored negatively. This was an all-school effort and ended in peace and unity. All funds were raised to benefit the Night Ministry.
Coins weren't the only things being collected this week. Our third graders were double donating. In addition to their coin collecting, they held a food drive. The number of service projects throughout the year is miraculous. It's a joy to witness our students living beyond themselves and recognizing and doing so many things that meet the needs of others.
Our third graders didn't stop there, they led weekly chapel which was a third of a trinity of generous acts of theirs this week. Our third Pastor Gathering brought Pastors from other congregations in the pews and our third graders did not skip a beat. Our students learn leadership skills at a young age and their inclusiveness with their classmates made for an amazing worship. Remember, families and friends, you are always welcome at our weekly chapel services. Hope to see you at one soon!
Story Scribes are big with our Junior and Senior Kindergartners. Thanks to our Viking Volunteers, we are able to hear the important stories each child shares. These young ones have so much fun telling their stories.
Thank you to our volunteers for serving our students!
We even had some serves and servers at our Alumni Volleyball Game.*(The first contact that starts every rally is called a “serve”. The player who serves is called the “server”. )
Vikings for Life!
